Steel exports jumped 50% in May,2022

According to data from the General Administration of Customs in June, China exported 7.759 million tons of steel in May 2022, up 2.782 million tons from the previous month, up 47.2% year-on-year and 56.89% from the previous month. From January to May, the cumulative export of steel products was 25.915 million tons, down 16.2% year-on-year and up 8.63% on a sequential basis. China imported 806,000 tons of steel in May, down 150,000 tons from the previous month, down 33.4% year on year. From January to May, a total of 4.98 million tons of steel were imported, down 18.3% year-on-year.
